Inspired by Providence Hospital in the early 80’s, Automated Laundry Systems & Supply began their involvement in community giving. We know the importance of being a good neighbor and strive each day to make a difference in the lives we touch.
In 2008, Brother Francis Shelter recognized our company for donating labor costs since 1985 to maintain their industrial washers and dryers. Other local organizations we support by donating products, services, and time are AWAIC, Clare House, Covenant House, the YMCA,, Alaska Humane Society, Anchorage Police Auxiliary Search Team, Junior Achievement, and Anchorage's Promise.
Dick Wells and Kim Foust are Founding Directors of Anchorage’s Promise, a non-profit organization with a vision that America's youth will become successful, responsible, and caring adults. Anchorage's Promise is the local chapter of America’s Promise Alliance, which grew out of the Presidents’ Summit for America’s Future in 1997. At that gathering in Philadelphia, Presidents Clinton, Bush, Carter and Ford (with Nancy Reagan representing President Reagan), challenged America to make children and youth a national priority. Dick continues to serve as the organization's President and gives countless hours to their work.
KidsDay, a signature event for Anchorage's Promise is an annual event that brings together youth serving organizations for one day of interactive fun for the whole family. Free to attendees, in 2014 with over 100 exhibitors, 4 venues, and 16,000 attendees, KidsDay was a great opportunity and fun day for all! KidsDay 2015 will be held Saturday April 18th from 10a - 4p at the Dena'ina Center. To become involved as a sponsor, exhibitor or to learn more about KidsDay, please contact Anchorage's Promise or visit: http://www.anchoragespromise.org/
ALS&S involvement with children and youth was evident at a technical hands-on training at the Mt. Iliamna.
But our commitment to our community and environment does not stop there! In November 2010 ALS&S earned Green Star Award certification demonstrating our dedication to reducing waste, conserving energy and preventing pollution in the work place. In addition, employees are encouraged to take these practices home.
In the spirit of Spring Clean Up, every May, employees do put on their rubber boots and gloves and clean up our neighborhood along Fairbanks Street.
In June 2013 ALS&S received the 2012 ALPAR Business Recycler of the Year award for outstanding recycling efforts.
